A couple of weeks back I was looking through the plethora of free games available for Ubuntu, trying to find something casual for Louise to play. I stumbled across Gweled, a free clone of Bejeweled. This is a simple game, about as difficult as Tetris to play and with similar levels of addictability. Louise and I are both hooked.
Gweled comes with a rather cool Daft Punk-esque sound track that seems to will you on towards higher scores. It’s just not the same game with the sound turned off. This evening, as I got back from badminton (having put in a solid 20 minutes of Gweled before I left) I heard the familiar bass line coming from the dining room. “Yes, I’m playing.” came the admission. There’s no need to qualify the statement any more, we’re that far gone.
