Google Maps

When I saw [Google Maps](http://maps.google.com/maps?q=united+kingdom&ll=54.648413,-4.130859&sll=37.062500,-95.677068&spn=10.329273,26.134277&sspn=159.184926,440.156250&num=10&start=0&hl=en) for the first time, I was impressed. Possibly the most impressed I’ve ever been with a web-based service — the satellite imagery is truely amazing and worrying in equal measure.

My only disappointment at the time was that the satellite imagery didn’t cover the UK. Well, now (at least in part) it does. This means you can now do satellite site-seeing of London, for instance the [London Eye](http://maps.google.com/maps?q=london+eye&ll=51.502766,-0.119232&spn=0.002709,0.006380&t=k&num=10&start=0&hl=en). Or you could get [subversive](http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=54.021385,-1.699619&spn=0.043062,0.107460&z=4&t=h&hl=en)…

They have also added a “hybrid” mode that overlays road maps over the satellite images — really nice!
